Why We Serve...
In 2022 I learned that Lincoln College, a HBCU (Historically Black College & University) had to close its doors after 157 years, because of a cyber security attack that they were unable to recover from.
This broke my heart because I know that 90% of successful cyber-attacks are preventable with the right baseline cyber security measures.
Contrastly, the HBCU Stillman College, was crippled in 2017 by a successful cyber-attack for nearly a year. However, they established a Cybersecurity DEI Program in response to the attack after understanding the growing importance of cybersecurity and the need to build opportunities for students to learn more about cybersecurity!
Learning about both of these stories, raised-up a passion in me to begin helping small and medium-size businesses (SMBs) implement baseline cyber security controls. Thus CyBase (Cybersecurity Baseline) Risk Management was born!
Knowing the right thing to do is not enough… Some companies need additional motivation to ‘Do the Right Thing’. We hear about phishing, ransomware and cyberattacks every day on the news and still some business owners have the mentality that it will never happen to them. Unfortunately, some of those companies have already been hit and it’s just a matter of time before they realize it.
My solution is to raise awareness of not only what could happen, but in some cases, what has actually happened. I focus on nonprofits and SMBs in specific industries that handle confidential and sensitive data to help them receive or lower their cyber security insurance. My belief is that the best defense is a great offense, and cyber insurance is one way to proactively prepare for when it’s time to be on the defensive.
This is my why… This is my passion. This is my mission, and I am committed to it!
